Challenge Atlantic City announced today that long time Professional Triathlete, local Champion and 26x Ironman finisher, Jacqui Gordon will take part in their June 29th Challenge USA debut triathlon in Atlantic City. The Challenge series expanded into North America in 2013 with Canada’s Challenge Penticton.

Challenge Atlantic City (CAC) and the Challenge Global Family are proud to announce the inaugural Challenge Atlantic City Sports Medicine Symposium (CACSMS) June 27-29, 2014 in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Challenge Family announced today that two-time World Champion, Mirinda Carfrae and Ironman Brazil Champion, Timothy O’Donnell will take part in two of their upcoming Challenge North American events. Carfrae, who won the World Championships in Hawaii for the second time in October, will race both Challenge Atlantic City and Challenge St Andrews in 2014. The Kona course record holder, who is originally from Australia, recently married fellow pro triathlete, Timothy O’Donnell, the top American finisher in Hawaii last year. O’Donnell, who also finished fifth overall in Hawaii and is considered one of the top long course triathletes in the world, will also be taking part in these Challenge Family races.

Challenge Family has selected Brad Bernardini, MD of Reconstructive Orthopedics as Medical Director of Challenge Atlantic City. Dr. Bernardini leads the Recon Sports Medicine Group at Reconstructive Orthopedics, New Jersey’s largest Orthopedic Group. The team from Recon Sports Medicine will be staffing the medical tents throughout race weekend, providing medical care to the athletes competing in the event.

With the highly anticipated announcement of Challenge Atlantic City, slated for June 29, 2014, the Challenge Family event series makes its first steps into the U.S. market. I was fortunate to be on hand for the announcement and have an opportunity to explore aspects of the course that will showcase the “real Jersey Shore”—an area of underrated natural beauty and seaside communities ready and eager to come together to host the area’s first long-course triathlon event.

The Challenge Family has announced that its first race in the United States will take place in late June of 2014 in the northeastern United States. The exact date and location will be announced later this month.
