What is a Homestay program:
A Homestay provides accommodations with a local community family. It also provides a triathlete with a “Like Home” style setting and an opportunity to experience our culture and what life is like as a “local”. Homestays can be as inviting and cozy as being in your own home. Accommodations can range from bare bones to luxury and can run the range from a complete family experience to a single-room for sleeping.
Benefits:
Everyone involved in our Challenge Atlantic City Homestay Program gains the chance to establish new friendships across the world. The athlete gains an opportunity to see how the local Atlantic City community lives. The host family gains insight into how a professional triathlete prepares themselves in the days leading up to big race.
In our many years of experience a Homestay host has shown themselves to be very generous and kind hearted.
Triathlete Guidelines & Suggestions:
We ask from you: Respect, Courtesy, Appreciation, and Professionalism at all times. Some thoughts would include: asking for permission before wheeling your bike into their living room, and things as simple as remembering to make your bed and clean up the kitchen and bathroom after using. Don’t assume meals and transportation will be provided, although they likely will be. Please remember to be considerate of your host family, things as simple as cleaning up after yourself, or making your bed, etc. can be most important! Please provide us with your needs and we will do our best to find you a host family who can provide you with what you need. We want the best experience for both you and the host family.
Who can apply to the Homestay Program?
Single Pro triathletes or Pairs/Couples can easily homestay. Looking to bring more than two people or bringing children can be more of a challenge, and is therefore discouraged. However, we ask you to please inform us if you are traveling with your family, and we certainly will try our best to accommodate you.
